Last year as novices we were in the bottom quarter, a year later, with some training we are nearly in top third. Many teams have been in similar competitions for years, so to come 9th out of 21 top teams is a remarkable achievement. Two Year 12 and two Year 13 students compete against other top school for two hours, over three rounds of questions. Although competition, the event is an opportunity to enjoy maths working with other very able students; the team were buzzing. The team was competing for the title right up to the last round. This is a competition where experience counts and in the final round inexperience under time pressure affected most teams. This achievement and experience bodes well for an even higher position next year.

Congratulations to the team: Alex Ahl, Khashayer Kharibisamani, Nancy Dong and Ryan Cao.
