Before the end of term, students from KPS CAN, our charity and sustainability group, volunteered at the local food bank run by the Trussell Trust. We have been supporting the foodbank since they opened and began serving the local community last year, both by raising money and collecting food throughout the school year.

The students worked hard and enthusiastically during their visit, supporting the team in a variety of ways: stock taking; organising stock by best before days; identifying current and potential future shortages; making food packages for clients; and supporting the clients to establish how the food bank could help them.

The staff at the food bank were hugely grateful for the students assistance, and impressed by their can do attitude and willingness to complete some of the more mundane, but incredibly valuable, tasks.

The students have been motivated to continue their work raising money and organising food collections at KPS.
