It has been such an exciting term at KPS with regards to our sporting achievements. Our boys and girls have competed locally and nationally in various events including football, netball, cross country running, swimming, fencing and ice hockey. Our Year 7/8 boys’ football team had an outstanding result beating the sporty Harrodian School, and our girls performed equally well in their netball match pushing the opposition in what was a closely fought contest.
With impressive performances in the South of England Cross Country finals at Sevenoaks School, and most recently winning the Canbury Surrey Schools Invitation with Tyler De La Bertouche winning in impressive style, we have much to look forward to as the cross country season gathers pace next term.
Amelia Rayner-Cook recently won double gold in both the medley relay and individual 50m butterfly events at the National Schools swimming final. Amelia undertakes a triple 2 hour training session every week, showing huge dedication, whilst also competing competitively in netball.
Teagan Williams Stewart is an outstanding fencer currently ranked number one in Great Britain in the women’s Foil – Cadets (U17), fifth (GB) in the women’s Foil – Juniors (U20), and tenth in GB in the women’s senior Foil. Most recently Teagan has won every British ranking competition in both Cadets U17 & Juniors U20, having progressed to the GB Junior team and competed in a Junior World Cup finishing 42nd from 139 athletes – the highest ranked GB fencer/Cadet in the competition. Teagan will also compete for the GB junior squad in Udine, Italy, in January 2019.
Andy Heath plays for the U13A Streatham ice hockey team, which has won all its league matches this season. The team currently sits top of its league table and Andy has also represented the U15B team. He has been selected for the U13 South East wider squad (final team to be selected in January) and prgressed to the next England trial.
Tyler De La Bertouche is currently number 1 goal keeper for two teams: Romford and Peterborough U15’s. Tyler has been selected to represent the South East regional team in this year's ‘Winter Classic’, competing against Scotland, England North, the Midlands and South West England. Tyler is training with the U14 England team.
Tennis and netball have been particularly popular sports this term with lots of pupils wanting to get involved. As a new school, we are able to offer lots of exciting opportunities for pupils to take part in across the sporting spectrum. Our ambition is to compete in local and national events, hence we target prominent school tournaments as a focal point for us.
