11+ and 13+ Entry

Academic scholarships at 11+ and 13+ are awarded based on performance in our entrance examinations.

16+ Entry

For candidates applying for 16+ entry to the Sixth Form, the Kensington Scholars programme offers academic scholarships of up to 30%. Academic scholarships at 16+ are based on GCSE results (or equivalent), as well as the student’s school reports and performance at interview. Students applying for the Kensington Scholars programme are expected to achieve Grades 9 to 7 in six or more subjects at GCSE (or equivalent).

Art & Design plays a central role at Kensington Park School, offering a range of exhibitions, workshops, creative projects, art trips, and competitions throughout the year. We provide scholarships for our most talented young artists, who then become Ambassadors of the department. Scholars are expected to fully engage in the exciting opportunities available, contributing to the vibrant artistic community through their participation in exhibitions, afterschool clubs, enrichment activities and art trips.

Requirements:

• Strong potential to succeed in the demanding Art and Design GCSE course
• GCSE/A-Level scholars must be a minimum of Grade 6 attainment/predicted grade in Art
• Submit a portfolio demonstrating creativity and technical skills
• Show a strong work ethic and passion for art through extracurriculars or personal projects
• Provide a reference from an Art teacher supporting your commitment and talent

To submit with school application:

• A short personal statement stating all prior Art & Design experience and explaining your interest in art, work ethic, and future aspirations
• A portfolio containing 5–10 pieces of artwork or sketchbook work produced in school or externally (for a project/coursework)
• Reference from Art teacher or main teacher
• Previous, current, or most recent assessment grades, including attainment and predicted grades

Shortlisted candidates:

• Complete a practical art task to assess skills under time constraints
• Will have an additional interview with the Teacher of Art (subject specialist at Senior School) to discuss and review your portfolio, creative process, and commitment to the course

Requirements after enrolment:

• Maintain high academic performance, especially in Art & Design
• Years 7-9: Act as Art Ambassadors, promoting and supporting art displays, competitions, and events within the school
• GCSE students: Compulsory participation in after-school art clubs to enhance practical skills
• Regular portfolio updates and progress reviews showcasing new work and progression
• Participation in art trips, which are an essential part of the programme, providing valuable experiences and inspiration
• GCSE students are encouraged to undertake independent projects to enhance their skills and foster creativity
• Must take Art & Design GCSE and Art & Design A level

Drama is an integral part of life at Kensington Park School, hosting a variety of theatre trips, productions, practical workshops and a growing list of creative events throughout the year.

Our most talented thespians have the opportunity to receive a scholarship, becoming ambassadors who fully immerse themselves in the shows, activities and ideas that drive the school’s Drama Department.

Requirements: 

• Scholars must perform in the annual school play
• Must already be taking LAMDA lesson and continue to do so

To submit with school application:

• A short letter stating all performance experience and why you wish to become a drama scholar

Shortlisted candidates: 

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited to audition, performing a monologue of their choice and a duologue (set by KPS) sent out in advance of the date
• They will also have an additional interview with the Head of Performing & Creative Arts

Requirements after enrolment:

• Must perform in the school play and be fully committed to rehearsals and performing in wider school events
• Must take Drama GCSE & Drama A level

Music is an integral part of life at Kensington Park School, hosting a variety of concerts, competitions, practical workshops, trips and other fun and exciting events throughout the year.

We provide scholarships for our most gifted musicians, who then become ambassadors of the department as they engage fully in the diverse opportunities and activities the school has to offer.

Requirements:

• Scholars must be a minimum of Grade 3 in at least one instrument/voice
• They must have demonstrable knowledge of music theory

To submit with school application: 

• A short letter stating all prior musical experience
• Video of a performance piece on chosen instrument/voice
• Reference from instrumental teacher
• Scanned certificates of practical and/or theory graded examinations

Shortlisted candidates: 

• Will be invited to audition, performing a piece of their choice on their chosen instrument/voice
• Will have an additional interview with the Head of Performing & Creative Arts.

Requirements after enrolment:

• Must perform as a soloist and as part of music groups and fully commit to rehearsals and performing in school events
• Must take Music GCSE and Music A level

Sport is intrinsic to life at Kensington Park School and forms a major part of curricular and extra-curricular provision. Physical Education is studied here at both GCSE and A level and our regular programme of inter-school and house fixtures keep sport at the forefront of all that happens here.

Sports scholarships are available at all ages to both present and prospective students who show the necessary talent and motivation to become sporting ambassadors and to engage in the numerous opportunities available to represent the school.

Awards will be made at the discretion of the PE department to pupils who meet the following criteria: 

• Able to make a significant positive contribution to extra-curricular sport through performing in thekey sports played at KPS: football, netball, rugby, cricket, rounders, athletics
• Able to make a significant positive contribution to PE and Games lessons
• Act as an ambassador for the school through exemplary conduct and attitude
• Be a role model to peers
• Assist the PE department in organising teams and motivating teammates
• We will also consider applicants who play a sport that is not necessarily played at KPS

To submit with school application: 

• A Letter of application citing pupil’s reasons for applying, what they think they could offer Sport atKPS and what their sporting ambitions are
• Achievements in their chosen sport/s, including school/club teams represented, level of competition(league/level of representation), ranking information (if applicable), competition results, personal bests, awards received etc.
• References from coaches/managers
• Any footage of performances, if available

Pupils will be shortlisted based on the quality of the above. Shortlisted pupils will be invited for trial. This will consist of joining the relevant year group for a Games afternoon on the agreed day.

Requirements after enrolment: 

• Pupils will be advised ahead of time what kit to be brought and what sport/s will be played on the day. Selection will be based primarily on the quality of performance and qualities of the individual observed by the PE staff. Scholarship offers will be confirmed by the end of that week.
