Whilst Easter provided a welcome break for some of us, the pressure was on for four of our students: Dylan, Tyler, Andy and Teagan, who all travelled overseas to represent England and Great Britain in their respective sport.
Get Your Skates On
Congratulations to Dylan and Tyler, our young ice hockey stars, who both represented England U14s in the European tournament in Turku, Finland, over the Easter break.
Tyler defended well as the team’s goalie and Dylan had a great tournament, contributing a few scores and assists for the country. The team was undefeated with four wins and one draw, which secured them the gold medal position.
Andy, our third pupil on the KPS ice hockey partnership programme, also travelled abroad spending a few days in Zilina (Slovakia) attending the U13 GB ball hockey training camp and playing in the tournament. It was a great opportunity for Andy to work on his fitness levels in preparation for Finland… where he had another amazing ice hockey tournament. In the atmospheric surroundings of an old underground bunker, the U13 England Team performed well on the ice and Andy scored his first England goal and was man-of-the-match in the semi-finals. The U13 boys won 2:1 in the final, winning the tournament’s trophy.
En Garde!
Following her fantastic results earlier this season, Teagan was selected for the Cadet and Junior World Championships which took place in Poland over the Easter break.
Teagan competed for three consecutive days in Junior Individual (U20), Cadet Individual (U17) and Junior Team.
She had the best result in both of the individual events (39th Juniors/23rd Cadets), and whilst Teagan no doubt was hoping to place in the last 16 in the cadets, it was still an accomplishment that saw Teagan as Great Britain’s only athlete in the field of 110. She also performed extremely well in the Team event.
The competitions didn’t end there, and over the bank holiday weekend Teagan travelled to Birmingham for the Birmingham International Fencing Tournament where she came away with the silver medal.
The British Youth Championships in Sheffield are up next in May, and we look forward to reporting on Tegan’s performance at this event.
Teagan, Andy, Tyler and Dylan – Kensington Park School celebrates your success and commends you all for the hard work you put in to ensure that you remain focussed on your studies. We are proud of you and your achievements.
